  1. What is PalCalls?
  2. PalCalls is a voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service that helps you eliminate your phone bills. Make your calls with PalCalls and you will save money because its totally FREE to all users. To get started, simply download the free PalCalls dialer software, then make PC2Phone calls in the US, Canada, China and Most of Europe. PalCalls is also FREE when making international calls using PC2PC calls.

  3. How much does it really cost?
  4. Nothing, zero, zilch. Unlike other VOIP companies, PalCalls receives all of its revenue from local and national advertisers who run 15 second rotating ads on the dialer while you’re using the system.

  5. How is the call quality?
  6. We stand by the quality of our service. PalCalls utilizes the most advanced circuitry and switches available in the market today to bring digital quality calls.

  7. Downloading PalCalls software?
  8. Once you have downloaded the PalCalls dialer software, you can instantly start making calls to all your friends and relatives anywhere in the world. You will be asked to complete a simple 3 minute online survey to better serve your online coupon special offers from local and national advertisers.

  9. Software system requirements / Recommended hardware
  10. This software only works on Windows PCs and will not work on Macintosh computers. We recommend that you connect to the Internet with at least a 56 kbps connection speed -- the higher bandwidth, the better the sound quality on your calls. Recommended equipment -- a good headset or a microphone and speakers, and the latest version of your sound card driver. You can pick up a good headset for under $20 from any office or electronic retailer. Headset Example

  11. Make PC2Phone calls with the PalCalls software?
  12. Learn how to make PC2Phone calls with the PalCalls software by taking the PalCalls Tutorial on the (?) link button of dialer.

  13. Can I use PalCalls with a NAT (Network Address Translator) or a firewall?
  14. A NAT is often used between private networks (like those used at home or at work) and the Internet to map a private IP address to a public IP address. Routers and software gateways (such as Internet Connection Sharing in Windows) usually also function as NATs. Firewalls, on the other hand, filter access to protected networks. PalCalls works with most NATs and firewalls without any additional setup. However, if your calls do not connect or you experience one-way voice, you likely have a NAT/firewall problem. In that case, you will need to ask your network administrator to open ports on the firewall or set up port mappings on the NAT.

  15. Can I use PalCalls with a proxy?
  16. No. Internet phones use UDP to transport voice over the Internet. Most proxies, including HTTP proxies, SOCKS 4 proxies, and some SOCKS 5 proxies, do not support UDP. If you use such a proxy, you will not be able to make Internet phone calls. SOCKS 5 proxy support will be available in future versions of PalCalls.

  17. What to do if you get a message that your account is disabled?
  18. Please e-mail us saying that your account is disabled. A PalCalls Quality Team representative will verify your information and will reactivate your account.

  19. What to do if you get a message saying "invalid phone number"?
  20. You must enter the US country code (1) then area code followed by the phone number. Example: 1 559-440-6422. If you are still receiving a message like this when trying to make a call, please send us an e-mail to: info@SiliconScript.com

  21. What to do if the sound is choppy?
  22. There are many factors that are involved in a VoIP call. The most important factors are a fast Internet connection and a good headset or speakers/mic. The performance of the call may also be affected by having many applications running on your PC which will use up much of your RAM memory. Try shutting down some applications during your call.

  23. What to do if you hear echo on the call?
  24. Believe it or not, most of the acoustic echo you may hear is because you have your sound too high. What happens is your microphone (or your headset mic) will pick up the sound coming through your speakers (or your headset speakers) and will cause an acoustic echo. If this is happening, the best thing to do is to simply turn your speaker volume down. You do not need to turn your microphone volume down.
